Which ever way you look at it is still a distributed RAID network drive, where the data is stored randomly over participating disks in such a way that only the client can summon their own files and where duplication of data ensures integrity and no down time due to hard drive failures.

It is possible to create a cloud network drive using the native disk drives of 30 pc's sharing the same LAN, something that cash strapped schools and universities are starting to exploit.
