Group: Cloud Computing, SaaS & Virtualization Discussion: How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues? This is all great stuff. However, with cloud you will still need a computer, smartphone, tablet, or laptop to access the IT rich environment offered by the cloud. My favorite cloud analogy is comparing a house to a hotel. With traditional IT, you own the HOUSE. If it breaks, you pay to fix it, you are in charge of replacing that hot water tank, or investing 25K into that new bathroom because your spouse has been pining after it for months. Plus, you have to invest all of that money upfront just to have a place to sleep! The CLOUD is like a hotel room, you are only paying for the nights you stay there. You are only paying for what you use. The real kicker, you won't have to worry about dropping 25K on that fancy bathroom because you can get the same room with a better bathroom next month. Got it?
