New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

Thomas, don't want to run down a rathole here. I suggest you do a little research and Google NIST Cloud definition. NIST is the acronym for National Institute of Standards and Technology. Definitely NOT an amazon thing. I thought this discussion was about how do we explain what "cloud" is in simple terms that everyone can easily comprehend. I am merely sharing how I go about explaining the required attributes. In some conversations I actually just use pictures to illustrate what "on demand" and "self-service" means.. The last part of your comment regarding more acronyms are the things we are able to provide once we do have a cloud in place,(Iaas -Infrastructure -as-a service,PaaS-Platform-as-a-service, and last SaaS-Software-as-a-service.)
