New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

It would largely depend on the technical knowledgeable of the people I would be explaining it to; but I would identify the cloud as a distributed network drive; either local or remote.

I would also make the analogy that any file could be visualized as a swarm of bees, where the cloud is the hive.

The data is in constant motion within the cloud; each packet of data cloned so that should a drive fail and packets lost there are clones to take there place.

Upon client request for a file - the swarm representing that file exit the hive in no observable order (random security encryption) to be reassembled into proper order by the client machine.
