New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

When we attempt to describe the attributes of a particular technology, the first thing we must consider is our audience. When we label our audience as non-technical, the assumption then becomes that our approach will be defined by LCD (Lowest Common Denominator) or, if you like, CBK (Common Body of Knowledge). If your audience understands mainframe computing architecture basics which, in a nutshell, contain a centralized CPU which is accessed by dumb terminals (make sure that this is not taken as a personalized comment LOL), then the mainframe architecture model can serve as an adequate descriptor for how cloud computing works...rather than the application, or more precisely, the processing of commands, occurring on the dumb terminal (personal computer) end of the business, the processing takes place on the mainframe (cloud) end. I hope this is not too obscure.
