New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

@Muhammad - I challenge any Cloud Providor who is not linked at the hip to the Telco, in other words, "In-Cloud" - verus "On-Cloud", you need to be In-Cloud with the Telco, or you will forever have hand off when an issue arises with the customer. (i.e. is it a Comms issue? Data issue?, Apps Issue, etc, etc). You don't want to be in that position. I am not sure on the TCO argument you put forward, if you are targetting the small end of town market, then you are probably correct, but if you are targetting the Enterprise & Government Sector it would be highly unlikely they are interested in Public Clouds with no Data Soverignity integrity. I think you should determine the target market, and approach accordingly, I cannot envisage HP, or Oracle are going after the low end of town, and they will for sure be adopting Private Cloud Models.
