I'm impressed at the intensity and length of this discussion; I've been following it for a couple weeks now. @JanKlincewicz, I like your definition from 4 posts ago; it seems very comprehensive. When my non-technical teacher friends ask me to describe the cloud, I like to use Walt Mossberg's ultra-simplified definition -- I mention this in my latest blog post for Axcient: http://blogs.axcient.com/cloud-backup/the-forecast-partly-cloudy -- it may be far too broad to define the cloud as "The Internet" but I find it's a good starting point to then build from.
