@Dawn : I am not sure to what post you are referring, but I have no definition of Cloud. As I have stated many times in posts on this forum, I prefer to to accept and embrace the definition proposed by NIST which I will again provide : http://csrc.nist.gov/publications/drafts/800-145/Draft-SP-800-145_cloud-definition.pdf This definition specifically does not mention "the Internet" and I believe that non-technical columnists such as Mossberg who write columns about technology often over-simplify complex issues to make them understandable to persons not conversant in the field to the point that the actual meaning can stretch pretty far from how a more technically astute individual would understand them. IMO, a statement such as "The Cloud is the Internet" is tragically simplistic, and just plain false and misleading. I think people are better off not understanding the Cloud than THINKING they understanding the Cloud and understanding it incorrectly. Some things are just beyond beyond comprehension for certain people. I don't understand Quantum Physics. I'm OK with that. Posted by Jan Klincewicz, MBA |
