When it is required to summarize all benefits of cloud computing, I'm usually list futures that real turnkey cloud computing platform must have. Resource pooling and management, resource scaling, virtual machine management, automated virtual image deployment, metering of resources charge, operations monitoring failed resource isolation and removal from pool, multiple guest OS support , APIs and scriptable command line interface etc. Easy explanation for Cloud computing is not to explain Cloud computing :-) Cloud computing technology is not important for end user to understand, benefits by using Cloud services are.
