New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

We both understand what cloud computing is so of course we will have much common ground.

It's not one particular word per-say as it is the sum of it parts. Specifically phrases like cost-cutting, revolutionary, reduced Cap-Ex etc.. Why those are good words and phrases to help understand WHY choose cloud computing, but not WHAT it is. Certain others like "Paradigm Shift", while may be true, have been overused so can come off trite.

But to play the devils door man I will say convenient is pretty useless and doesn't really add to understanding I would think.

I've used an example before about one of our SE's who has a Mac Book with a Windows VM so he can run Outlook. While that only talks mainly about virtualization, adding "he can reach it through any network in the story gets eyes to light up.
