New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

In these cases you can never go wrong quoting Inigo Montoya from the film "The Princess Bride:" "Let me essplain ... No, there is too much. Let me sum up."

Cloud computing is a model for enabling convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction.

Simple.. No mention of the Internet (which is nearly always incorrectly imposed.) No over-simplified examples of a single model (Gmail / SaaS, AWS/IaaS.) Just a neat sum-up. If they need more, THEN they can invest the time to read the page and a half. If they don't have the interest to do THAT, they aren't that interested, so don't waste your time on them <g> .
