Group: Cloud Computing, VMware, Virtualization and Enterprise 2.0 Group Discussion: How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues? I think we are veering way off topic here from "How do you explain Cloud Computing" (to which, as several have pointed out, there is no correct answer.) We are now arguing over the VALUE of CC which is a whole different kettle of fish. Evidently, there are many different ways people explain the concept to their colleagues. I have attempted to comment on where certain methods may fall short in conveying the totality of a very complex set of topics (specifically giving examples which are, for example, limited to SaaS model, or Public deployment method, ignoring other forms.) As have many others, I recommended the NIST document as a good starting point, but recognize that it may be overkill for some audiences. I apologize for getting into some unnecessarily trite bickering in this forum (but don't particularly care to "turn the other cheek" when sufficiently provoked.) Posted by Jan Klincewicz, MBA
