IT as an utility is not that new either, I moved part of my website from my own server to a provider, have people pay for my photo's through a partner, who also delivers the products. Recently I am using a virtual workstation because I did not want to buy a new faster workstation when I could rent a virtual one by the hour and scale it to my need. On a larger scale, businesses (can) do the same.
