@Jay - I think I've tried to make your point a few times. PRIVATE Cloud is a whole different animal than PUBLIC Cloud. Setting up vCloud Director has so little in common with backing up a few files over the Internet, that describing one does little to give any indication of what the other entails. While. yes, virtualization is an enabling technology, virtualization <> Cloud. I would guess you are deploying your Cloud inside a corporate firewall (at least that's where I see most instances of vCloud ending up.) As you state, Cloud is dependent on many precedent technologies, but scratch more than a bit deep, and you'll see Salesforce.com (a prime example of SaaS) does not use virtualization, at least not in the Hypervisor sense, and more than a few, if not the majority of Private clouds run over leased lines or stay within the boundaries of Internal Ethernet switch pools never EVER traversing the PUBLIC Internet. | |||||
