Group: Cloud Computing, VMware, Virtualization and Enterprise 2.0 Group Discussion: How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues? @Jan Klinecewicz - All humor aside, having worked with some of the cloud software out there, namely vmware cloud director, I believe cloud computing adds another level on top of the existing duties a system administrator / engineer would have to be responsible for. I'm trying to put together a private cloud for lab/development/support teams in my organization, and its actually harder to accomplish this than just setting up the virtual machine environments. To respond to your SQL/RAID/memory comment, I sum it up like this: we had those first, and cloud is a biproduct of that. Without the former, you cannot have the latter. Posted by Jay Jahns
