New comment on "How do you explain cloud computing to your colleagues?"

LinkedIn Groups

I used public storage facilities to explain Cloud to my middle school boy.

1) The Public Storage Facilities has basic security. They give you a key to your storage just like your user id & password to access the cloud.
2) You can store anything you need there. You login to the cloud/go to the storage when you need to access your thing. When you run out of space, you will subscribe to more storage.
3) Depending on what you need to store, the Public Storage Facilities have add-on features for you to choose, e.g. climate control, shelves, etc. Amazon has a cloud player for your music.
4) There are also Public Storage Facilities with specialties, e.g. Safety box in banks, boat @ the dock or pier. Saleforce is specialized in sales/crm.
5) Public Storage Facilities have other services, some will deliver a box to you and haul it away after you pack; some will help you pack and haul away junk. Google may scan for virus on the file you upload and download from the Internet.
