Just utilizing VMWare or other virtualization platform does not single handedly guarantee that the proper optimization of resources is being done. Also, appropriate configurations need to be made to attain right performance, like in the link below: http://www.vmware.com/support/ws55/doc/ws_performance.html In certain practical scenarios I have seen that whenever performance tests or bench-marking exercises need to be done for a software piece, then stand-alone servers are preferred over virtualized environments. This is also be because performance under virtualized environments is dependent on the virtualization platform and the system settings apart from the application settings. There are many best practice documents available to make the virtualized environments effective (like below), but still every environment is a different one and needs its own special considerations ! http://snia.org.br/files/Matchett-M_Best_Practices_Managing_Virtualization.pdf By Kamal Arora, Sr. Consultant Engineering at GlobalLogic | | | Like · Flag | Top 10 Challenges to Project Managers Started by Rachel Turnbull, Senior Project Leader http://ProjectTemplates.biz Offers a Complete Set of 184 Project Management Templates, Tools, Forms, Guides and Everything Which Can Increase the Efficiency of Project Managers to Meet Any Business Project or IT Project.
