Started by Robert DuPuy, Customer Service Manager at Business Protection Systems International Hi Robert – great questions. I can best address the second one. No matter the business, it's always a good idea to have a data recovery system in place. The required speed of a BC/DR solution restoration has historically been dependent upon the business impact of a given system failure. Systems that generate revenue and enable critical office processes have historically been the high priority systems and therefore got the more expensive solutions. In the last several years, the importance of BC/DR solutions for email, office documents, collaboration and more have grown in importance. Fortunately, the cost of BC/DR solutions and their value have been changing dramatically with cost decreasing rapidly and value increasing exponentially. With this in mind, businesses should put a good amount of time and consideration into their backup plans. We posted a blog on real-life examples of BC/DR in action that might be of interest: http://bit.ly/u0XLHc By Beth Cossette, Marketing Manager | | | Like · Flag | What is the biggest unexpected cost of moving to the cloud? Started by Sujit Janardanan, Marketing and Corporate Communication Professional with Experience in Digital & Content Marketing I think an un unforeseen cost is when business try to forego the upfront investment in using Cloud via a pay-per-use model. However, the Cloud is great for providing financial and operating flexibility many organizations seek. But, the problem occurs when increased consumption of cloud capacity reaches a point where the overall cost and complexity to manage the cloud becomes a financial burden. One of my fellow contributors on TELUS Talks Business, Shawn Myron, wrote an article on the "promises and potential pitfalls" that helps enterprises prepare for their move that sums this up nicely: http://bit.ly/o0byXB By Angela Kotyk, Social Media Marketing Manager at TELUS Business | | | Like · Flag | Live Webinar: DR to the Cloud.
